Nichelle Update
Our very own Missionary Nichelle Dykema has had a roller coaster ride on her mission journey. She was to serve our Lord in Peru but God has other plans.
Hear her words:
Sometimes God’s path for us isn’t what we expected. It turns out what we thought we could see ahead was our imagination, not the true light illuminating the path God created for us.
Unfortunately, my switchback appeared much sooner than any of us could have expected. Before I even made it to Perú, the plan began to unravel. Looking back, I can see that God’s plan is bigger than any one missionary or even missionary team...and all we can do is trust that He is working all things for good and that the work continues even when plans change.
I went to Perú knowing that my time there would be short-lived. By the time arrived, one missionary family had already departed for the states and the remaining two families were in final stages of preparing their own moves out of the country. According to LCMS policy, a GEO missionary can only serve in a field where there is a career missionary on the ground; so with everyone leaving, I couldn’t stay.
I’m sad to say that, for now, this means I am ending my service as an active LCMS missionary. I am back in the United States and working with the LCMS Office of International Mission to wrap up my conclusion of service. I am at a loss for words to describe how much your prayers and support have meant to me, and how disappointed I am that I will not be able to continue serving the people in Perú or sharing with you the work that is happening there.
It’s not always so easy to understand God’s design in our paths, especially when switchbacks take us by surprise. But we can always trust that He has a reason. We follow the path, give thanks for the time we have shared together and the people we have met along the way, and learn from our journey.
Thank you certainly doesn’t express everything I feel for your kind words, notes of encouragement, prayers that kept me going when times were tough, and support that made it possible for me to go and serve in Lima. I am so grateful and thank God for you.
We will continue to pray for Nichelle as she seeks God’s direction for her life.

LWML Sunday Twin Falls
|
Immanuel Lutheran LWML in Twin Falls celebrated LWML Sunday with a fair on October 22, 2018. The members of the congregation were invited to check out several displays, including information about Society Activities, the Levels of LWML, Mission Grants, Immanuel's Quilting group, Bethesda, and Membership information. A scavenger hunt kept many busy trying to find information found within the displays and a couple of prizes were awarded to participants. Ingathering items were packaged to take to Volunteers Against Violence. When fair goers were ready to relax, they could sit at the tables and color bookmarks or cards, watch the looping LWML videos and read Mustard Seeds.

On this day of remembrance and national service, we are reminded of the heroic efforts and sacrifices made by so many 17 years ago this day. In the face of horror, unconditional sacrifices were made, and it is right and good that we honor those and inspire others to acts of service in their memory.
As Christians, we have the greatest of all examples of unconditional love in the face of great horror. In spite of our sin and rebellion, our loving Savior bore the punishment we deserved and redeemed us to new life – everlasting life – marked by grace and love which reflects the love of our Savior.
LWML has always been a model of that same “character of service and sacrifice” and we thank you for your love and generosity!
We were honored to host your District Convention last June in our High School building. Your generosity outfitted our choir and music room and your gift to our High School at the convention has been utilized as scholarship funding for students and families in need. Again we say, “Thank you!”
am blessed to report that we now have a full time principal, Mrs. Hanne Krause. This will be the third Lutheran High School she has led and we are eager to see what God will do in her ministry among us! We are at 42 students in grades 9-11 and are now firmly and safely established. How exciting will it be to see our first graduates in 2020! We covet your prayers for their faith and success in life.
Please share our gratitude with your leadership and we pray God’s rich blessings upon your every endeavor done in the name and for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ.
