“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
Matthew 22: 36-40
Human Care Info
Are you looking for ingathering or service projects for your Fall Zone Rally? Here are some ideas for you.
Do you have a local rescue center, homeless shelter or women's shelter? As winter approaches they have many needs. They need warm winter clothing, especially socks, hats, scarves and gloves. Hats and scarves are easy to knit or crochet. You can find easy patterns if you google "charity knitting crochet hat pattern." Or scarf pattern. Use up some of that stash! (so you can buy more!)
Shelters always need personal hygiene supplies like soap, shampoo and deodorant.
Women's shelters can always use diapers of all sizes.
Food banks have great need for non food items, espeically toilet paper, detergent, cleaning supplies.
If you want to tie fleece blankets, buy the material all summer on sale or with your 50% off coupons for one cut of fabric. Adult blankets are 60x80. Fleece is 60" wide, buy 2 1/3 yard for a 60x84 blanket. Baby blankets usually are 40x40. Be sure they are at least 36x36. Leftovers can be used for the Humane Society--the dogs and cats won't care what size you make! Seam pieces together to make larger pieces.
Pintrest has lots of ideas for different fringes also. Just search 'fleece blankets" in Pintrest.
