SPECIAL FOCUS MINISTRIES DEPARTMENT
Reminder for YWR Applications
As we inch into the new year, it is time to consider nominating a Young Women Representative (YWR) to attend the 2025 National Convention. We have identified the criteria for a YWR, including the following: a mature young woman within the ages of 22-35 who has a strong connection with the Lord, have some knowledge of the LWML, be able to commit to attending the convention and be aware of her responsibility to share her experiences with the Utah-Idaho LWML District at District Convention in 2026. Finally, an enthusiasm to be involved with the LWML is a plus! The deadline for submissions to the National convention is February 1st. Please consider that there will need to be prayerful consideration from the District to identify YWRs, therefore applications should be submitted prior to February 1st.
Please refer to the YWR Selection Guidelines found on the Young Women in Mission webpage for more information regarding participant selection recommendations.
We encourage you to reach out to Young Women in Mission webpage to learn more about the program. In addition, reach out to past young women and ask them to help recruit YWRs for district and national convention.
The Committee on Young Women is planning an intensive program which will immerse these young women into what LWML is all about. It is our goal that they will return to their districts, zones, and local groups ready to share what they have learned and to intensify their service to the Lord through our organization.
If you have questions or inquiries for the Utah-Idaho YWR’s please email

- Your YWR should be a member of the LCMS with a deep love and devotion for her Lord Jesus Christ.
- Your YWR must be able to participate in the full scope of the convention.
- Your YWR should be a mature young woman, preferably 22-35 years of age.
- Your YWR cannot have previously attended a National Convention as a YWR.
- Your YWR should know the commitment required of her following the convention as she steps into a volunteer leader role in her district, zone, or local group. These commitments include: reporting on their experience at the National Convention at the next District Convention, attending Fall Zone events to be a speaker if a zone requests it (zone would be responsible for the costs incurred), and writing a report for the July U&I that would be due July 15th, 2026
- The District pays many of the costs associated with being a YWR to National Convention, but not all. Please contact the Vice President of Special Focus Ministries (email is located at the bottom of this letter) for further clarification
